FAQ

1.  Q:  How do people find the iSurf sites?

A:  Because they are so local in nature, Google, Yahoo and other search engines send people to them.  Each site also has a Virtual Mayor charged with increasing community awareness of iSurf and delivering interesting local content and involving local non-profits, but word of mouth is still our best ally.

2.  Q:  Is the price of ads on iSurf sites comparable to competitors?

A:  For this project the pricing has been set far below the standards of other media, such as radio, cable, newspaper, Yellow Pages and other online sites of comparable content.

3.  Q:  Will these low ad prices always be in effect?

A:  No, of course not.  This is a promotion and as the sites deliver ever better results for the merchants, prices will rise.  However, iSurf is committed to supporting the non-profit community by keeping prices for this program substantially lower than for our traditional sales.

4.  Q:  Is there an additional charge for changes to the ads?

A:  The one-time setup fee covers reasonable changes to your ad for as long as you have an account.

5.  Q:  Can I pay online or by credit card?

A:  Yes.  We have a simple, easy to access, setup page where you can do so as you are giving iSurf the information for your ad creation.

6.  Q:  Why should you advertise online?

A:  Internet is an increasingly better value that can target a much more narrow group both locally and nationally.  Advertising on iSurf can target potenial customers and clients specific to your location for far less than any other form of advertising for the cost.

According to Nielson Online, there are 227,719,000 Internet users as of August/09, 74.1% of the population of the U.S. and 68% of these users use their computer while watching television, which devalues television ads as attention focus returns to the computer during commerical breaks.

iSurf ads can be altered unlike print ads to accomodate specials, phone number changes, and other concerns that affect effectiveness of advertising during the campaign.

Internet advertising can redirect to your own webpage, facebook account, blog, or any other space you control on the internet.  No phone numbers to remember or write down means a higher likelihood of your potential clients or customers contacting you.

Internet advertising is the only advertising medium that has and is growing in value.  The steep decline in newspaper and magazine ad revenue due to the loss of subscribers and the sharp rise in internet marketing indicates a shift from print media to the more versital and less expensive digital format.  It is now possible to reach more people with your message that fit within your target demographic.

Nashville Area Red Cross Helps Flood Victims

The Nashville Area Red Cross has been instrumental in organizing relief efforts for victims of the flood.  The waters may have receded, but there is still much work to be done.  More than 2000 people were displaced from their homes, and many businesses and homes have extensive damage.

You can donate in several different ways.  You can donate online at www.middletennredcross.org,

or you can text “REDCROSS” to 90999 on your phone to make a $10 donation added to your monthly bill or debited from a prepaid account balance.

You can also go the old school way and just mail a check to:

Nashville Area Red Cross

2201 Charlotte Avenue

Nashville, TN 37203

In addition to financial assistance, the Red Cross always needs volunteers for a variety of positions.  Check out their website to see how you can help.  In times like these it is important for members of a community to stand together and help each other out.

YES Helps Inner City Kids

Youth Encouragement Services, or YES, has been helping children in Nashville for nearly fifty years.  They specialize in helping at risk children in inner city areas maximize their full potential through offering after school programs from tutoring to fall and winter basketball.

Academics: YES offers back to school services, providing pencils, paper, etc. to children whose families struggle to provide them with the necessary school supplies.  They offer homework help and after school tutoring, and they don’t forget to reward the kids for exceptional effort.  Academic achievement is rewarded at the end of the year with a special field trip for honor roll kids.

College Scholarships- It is extremely rare to find viable scholarship opportunities for inner city kids, but YES has done just that, thanks to the generosity of their donors.
